30,000 records for County Kilkenny join

Here's a lovely bundle of New Year joy for those with ancestors from County Kilkenny.
RootsIreland has added some 30,000 records from the county to its database. The new additions have been transcribed by the Roche House Trust, one of the Irish Family History Foundation's island-wide network of local genealogy and heritage centres.

The bundle is made up of transcriptions from Roman Catholic baptism and marriage registers from 13 parishes across the county, census records and census substitutes, as follows:

Roman Catholic baptisms and marriages:
  • Transcriptions of registers (baptisms mostly from 1901, marriages mostly from 1911, and all running to 1920) from the parishes of Aghaviller, Callan, Dunnamaggin, Freshford, Galmoy, Johnstown, Mullinavat, Paulstown, Thomastown, Tullaherin, Urlingford, Windgap and Thomastown Workhouse. These records are exclusive to RootsIreland.

Census Records
  • 1821 Carrigan Census
  • 1901 Census (heads of household only – 15,654 records)

Census Substitutes:
  • Carrigan Notebooks
  • 1662 Hearth Money Rolls
  • 1809-1829 Kilkenny Freeholders
  • 1914-1918 WW1 Combatants – Kilkenny
