Glasnevin Trust and Trinity College Dublin have announced details of their winter lecture series: '1916: Rebellion, War and Commemoration in Ireland and beyond’. Here's the schedule:
Thursday 28 January: Life and crime in the city before the Rising, with Padraig Yeates
Thursday 4 February: 'They shall be speaking for ever': remembering the Abbey rebels, with Fearghal McGarry
Thursday 11 February: War, risings and rebellions beyond Ireland - the strategic context of 1916, with David Murphy
Thursday 18 February: 'There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today': Re-evaluating the Battle of Jutland (1916), with Ian Speller
Thursday 25 February: Divided history in a divided society: Commemorating the Rising and the Somme in Northern Ireland, with Marie Coleman
Thursday 3 March: From shoe box to window box, commemoration of the First World War in Ireland from 1919 to present day, with Tom Burke
