Church of Ireland History Society conference

The Church of Ireland Historical Society is to hold a conference in Armagh Public Library on Saturday, 5 April at 10.30am. The venue, at 43 Abbey Street, Armagh, BT61 7DY,  is the oldest library in Northern Ireland.

The programme in brief:
  • Reverend William Phelan and the historiography of the Church of Ireland, with Professor Jacqueline Hill
  • The 1622 royal visitation of the Church of Ireland in Ulster, with Dr Brendan Scott
  • Irish Protestant Nationalist Stephen Gwynn during the revolutionary period, c. 1912–23, with Dr Colin Reid
  • The suppression of street begging in early nineteenth–century Ireland, with Ciarán McCabe.
