A new volume of the celebrated Vanishing Ireland collection should be appearing on the shelves of all good bookshops today.
It is the fourth in the series and, like the earlier volumes, sets out to capture the memories and attitudes of older Irish people in photograhic images and words. This book, however, concentrates on friendship and community and explores the bonds between people – family, friends and neighbours – that have remained so integral a part of Irish life.
Written by historian and TV presenter Turtle Bunbury and lavishly illustrated by photographer James Fennell, Vanishing Ireland, Friendship and Community is published by Hachette Books Ireland and runs to 292 pages. It is available, together with all Turtle's books at Amazon.
