During the summer there was a lot of hot air flying around about the imminent collapse of the genealogical world (er, in Ireland) because the Government was going to do something dastardly.
I couldn't see any foundation to these stories – basically alleging that access to genealogical records was going to be halted – so I didn't bother to report them.
Well, the Council of Irish Genealogical Organisations (CIGO) has just confirmed that there's nothing to worry about. Life and ancestral pursuit will go on.
