Following the success of its inaugural outing, the Ulster Genealogy & Migration Studies Autumn School returns this year from 7 to 13 October. As previously, it will be based in Omagh, Co Tyrone.
This stimulating programme is a joint initiative by the Ulster Historical Foundation and the Mellon Centre for Migration Studies and is designed for anyone who has an interest in exploring their ancestry in Ireland's northern province.
It includes a variety of talks, tours, presentations and events, and participants are given hands-on assistance by the School's experienced team to carry out research for themselves at both the Mellon Centre (located at the Ulster-American Folk Park) and the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) in Belfast. Excursions will also be made to some of Ulster's most historic sites.
No previous knowledge of research techniques or sources is required.
The cost of the programme is £675, which includes lunches and evening meals, admission charges and transport. B&B accommodation for six nights is extra (£175).
