The database, which is run by the Irish Family History Foundation and compiled from transcriptions made by genealogists working at the IFHF's island-wide network of county genealogy and heritage centres, now holds 23 million records. Among them is the most complete and most accurate set of Roman Catholic church records online, and the largest multi-denominational collection of church register records from across Ireland.
New records are added regularly; in the first eight months of this year alone, more than 467,000 records have been uploaded from Kerry, Wicklow, Westmeath, Kilkenny, South Dublin, Armagh, North Mayo and Cork.
