Richard II and the Irish Kings, by Darren McGettigan: Unlike most late-medieval kings of England, Richard II showed interest in his lordship of Ireland and mounted two expeditions to the island in 1394–5 and 1399. In the process, he found himself out-negotiated and out-fought by Art MacMurchadha Caomhánach, king of the Leinster Mountains, and Niall Mór and Niall Óg Ó Néill, kings of Tyrone and high-kings of Ulster.

This 232-page book tells the story of his encounters with his reluctant Gaelic Irish vassals, before returning to England and being deposed, within the month, by his cousin, Henry (King Henry IV).
