National Archives launches genealogy website

The National Archives of Ireland (NAI) has today launched a dedicated Genealogy portal through which all its existing and future genealogy databases can be accessed.

As of today, the genealogy databases accessible from the home page are:
  • The 1901 and 1911 Irish Census
  • The Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837
  • Irish Soldiers' Wills 1914-1917 (1918 will be added in due course)
The new Genealogy site is www.genealogy.nationalarchives.ie. In due course, so the Home Page explains, the following collections will be added to the Genealogy site:
  • Calendars of Wills and Administrations 1858-1922
  • 19th-century census survivals 1821-1851
  • Valuation Office House and Field Books 1848-1860
  • Census Search Forms for the 1841 and 1851 censuses
Hard to decide which one I'd like them to start on next!

UPDATE: 7pm. Site has crashed due to over-capacity! Hey, it's first day frenzy. Will be working again later, I'm sure.

UPDATE 2: 9pm. Up and running again. Enjoy.
