Been wondering why the Reading Room of the National Archives of Ireland (NAI) is closed until 2.30pm this Thursday, 8 November?
Reason is that the official launch of the online Tithe Applotment Books will be taking place. The button is due to be pressed at noon.
Also being launched is the 9000-strong collection of Irish Soldiers' Wills 1914-1917 (1918 will be added in due course). If you want a little taster of what to expect from this new record set, take a gander at the November 'Archive of the Month' at the NAI's website.
I'll bring further details as soon as they're available.
UPDATE: See news of NAI's new Genealogy website, Tithe Applotment Books go online and Irish Soldiers Wills go online.
