The course is suitable for beginners, as well as for those with more experience who want to develop their skills, learn new techniques and discover lesser known resources.
It covers topics such as Irish land divisions; 19th and early 20th century census returns; Church records; Civil records; Griffith’s valuation; Tithe applotment books; wills and testamentary papers; and provides participants with the information and skills for further exploration of their family history.Practical demonstrations of relevant websites are given, and a day and a half of guided research in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland is included.
In addition, course members have a one-to-one consultation with one of the UHF's research team and receive a genealogy workbook with guidance on how to tackle the many sources available.
