Military Archives to close for several weeks from March

A brand-new Military Archives – one of the Government's seven capital projects to mark the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising – is gradually emerging at Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.

The new facility is predominantly purpose-built, but incorporates an existing building on the site that has seen extensive refurbishment.

The new-look Military Archives will provide state of the art storage and services, and a bigger, brighter and better Reading Room when it opens to the public at the end of April 2016.

To reach that point, however, there's a lot of unavoidable service disruption ahead and the archive has announced that the Reading Room will be closed from the beginning of March until the end of April.
