Ancestry to release Lord Morpeth's Roll next month

Ancestry has quietly added a wee note under the Upcoming Collections heading on its website to announce the launch of Lord Morpeth's Roll on the database in March.

Curiously, the announcement says that the parchment contained 'the names, and sometimes addresses, for about 157,000 Irish citizens', which is about 120,000 less than was expected. No doubt we will discover the truth when it is released.

The project to digitise the document is one of Ancestry's World Archives Projects so it will be made available with free access.

I was half expecting the launch to coincide with WDYTYA?Live and all the publicity that goes with it, but I'd now bet my hat that it'll be St Patrick's Weekend.

Along with loads of others, I can't wait for this release.

More about Lord Morpeth's Roll.
